Great defense by Felix 🙌 but I think the net player should’ve won the point earlier, he didn’t finish the point and gave to many chances. But still stunning defense Felix 💪🙌

Really like the alternation between passing shots and lobs. That's how good defense is made-- low then high; and repeat when needed. Most of us, and even most pros stick to one type of defense during a point, probably because of time pressure, you try to do the same thing better. But it pays off to do the other thing. Remember the 7 second rule: it takes 7 seconds of max effort to use up your inner muscle ATP and start choking, literally. The net game is based on playing the entire active phase within those 7 seconds: approach (or serve), first volley, conclusion. Bam! So when you extend the point the net man looses his edge.

The guy that won the point got lucky. Gave the net player so many opportunities

Yeah should have played the volley after the first smash and receiver should have done more with the weak approach but still a good point and not easy to win on.

This kind of faulty net play happens when players spend 95% of coached time on anything but net.

Hit smashes moving forward, not backwards. There was time. Any weak pass giving you time means close toward the net to improve angle, hit the volley moving forward through the ball, to take away time from opponent. Drop volley if close enough and angle is right, not deep volley back to the baseline.

Competent net player wins this point on any of five balls. Will there be any big move to train on net game? No.
