Zimbabwe to Kill 200 Elephants to Feed People Amid Drought | Vantage With Palki Sharma

Zimbabwe plans to cull 200 elephants to feed its citizens who face acute hunger amid food shortages from drought. Zimbabwe is suffering from its worst drought in four decades. So, the government wants to distribute elephant meat among hungry communities. Zimbabwe is following Namibia's recent decision. Last month, they decided to cull 700 wild animals amid the drought. Conservationists and activists have criticised the mass slaughter, but the countries remain undeterred. Can this controversial culling solve their woes?

I am willing to help Zimbabwe but I am afraid the money I will send will just be stolen by corrupt officials.

I live in Zimbabwe, and what I'm seeing here is something else. On the part of drought is true, there is drought but the most affected people are those involved in rural subsistence farming and usually depend on rain. It happens every year.
Commercial farmers usually do the irrigation. As for food shortages, well that's a new one 😂. I go to town almost everyday, and nothing has changed. Shops are packed and prices are still the same.

They will not feed 200 people by slaughtering these majestic animals. They will bring about the worse famine with no more elephants to slaughter. What is it going to be after that.?

This is a perfect example of how innocent lives will suffer for other's mistakes. Increasing human population, growing infrastructure, and never-ending human needs. Global warming effect will be more in the future😞

You know its crazy that I'm a Zimbawean living in Zimbabwe, I have relatives and friends who live in the rural and peri-urban places, but the situation is not that dire. Yes the dry-spell has hit hard but not the way its being portrayed. Please note I'm not even a loyalist of the current regime, incase someone assumes I'm one of those who get paid to lie on behalf of the state.

Botswana and south africa have the largest number of zimbabweans, mugabe took all the lands from white farmers, who loved farming and gave it to his booze loving followers, now the country is the poorest

Hey. Zimbabwe has gone crazy. Elephants are also live people who want to live. They are non-violent unless provoked.

Zimbabwe was once the bread basket of Africa. Shame on shame on Robert Mugabe's family, goverment, friends. There greed knows no end.
