This scene gave me clarity. Dermerzel is condemned to a very insidious hell. Cleon enslaved her to him and his genetic dynasty. Doomed to destroy the ones she loves. It is truly horrific and makes me weep for her. IMO, I do think she was happy for Dawn and Sareth even if her programming concluded their doom is necessary.

I predict our storybook ending for Dawn and Sareth will have a legacy of terrible destruction, as their child(ren) would all be claimants to the throne. Combined with Day's tyranny in S2, this will really accelerate the Empire's decline, I think.

I think their son will be the one to carry out the Great Sacking of Trantor, which results in the planet becoming a mix of farmland and cityscape ruins. It's also mentioned by one of the last Emperors of the remaining Empire (during the time of the Mule), that they were but the son of a pirate who seized the throne.

I think this is the best bit because it means Cloud Dominion and Empire must be at war so poor Demerzel loses on all fronts. There's a part of her that wants to be defeated to escape the alteration Cleon 1 did to her. Its a way out.

I think the third season we will see Demerzel finally break free from her programming with the fall of Empire and become the being that she wants to be. I think she has been indirectly working with Hari to bring it down without violating her programming.

I don't get it. They don't have a Foundation whisper ship. They also obviously don't have access to Empire's spacer jump ships. Hell since the Spacers all dipped even the Empire might have limited access to jump ships. Where are these two young lovers gonna go in this space shuttle craft? Put themselves in cryo and hope their ships survives a sub-light voyage of a century or more?
