The difference between "saber" and "conocer" is only difficult for English and Russian native speakers...
Most other European languages have a similar distinction:

French: savoir - connaître
Italian: sapere - cognoscere
German: wissen - kennen
Polish: wiedzieć - znać

Saber, conocer, y comprender. A lot of languages have these 3 verbs (Some overlap among each other).

We have the same in English - know and wit. Wit is saber, know is conocer (conocer is a cognate of know). Wit is a roundabout cognate of ver (videre - witan).
