Playing more notes doesn't mean better quality practicing

Sometimes I'll extract little clips from the five years of weekly lessons that I've been posting on YouTube. Here's one from those archives: This is from one of my very first videos, but it's a common theme that I remind myself and my students often: Playing more notes doesn't mean better quality playing or practicing. Often the most potent practicing takes a lot pausing and thinking.
