SpaceX is getting ready for an exciting test where they'll try to land the Starship booster back at their Starbase, Texas after launching over the Gulf of Mexico. With the FAA keeping an eye on safety, IFT-5 may take longer than anticipated.

I watch your analysis religiously. Very insightful.

Mexico literally dumps sewage into the ocean..

Considering that the feds have already been caught red-handed in this matter (protecting Boeing and attempting to punish Musk for his wrong think), I'm not sure what conversation must be had about "environmental issues".

SpaceX should come to Patagonia Argentina and build a spaceport. it would be granted absolute freedom of operation & it's costs would be much smaller.

"environmental issues" 😂😂😂 Of course not, it's 100% politic.

My issue is how is this all of a sudden now an issue. They have known for years that SpaceX is launching here. But now they have issues??? No. Your done just launch!!!

If they found a way to not have water dumped into the sea these people would find another reason to sue spacex.

That water would hardly make a difference to water quality in fact it won't make any difference. do you know how big a tidal basin is compared to 25 launches per year. it's clean water as well.

I don't understand why so much scrutiny around this one location, airplanes put off way more destruction to the environment than a rocket launch. You figure airplanes launch thousands of times a day, they use tons and tons of fuel that's burning into the atmosphere but yet airports don't go under scrutiny as much as SpaceX's South Texas location, I just don't get it.

Ridiculous. gallons of drinking water is nothing. Nothing. Nothing!

So when hurricanes barrel in dumping thousands of tons of fresh water on salt marshes or pulling sea water up and inundating inland fresh water is it reasonable to get the Hurricanes to stop until they conform to regulations. Also how much damage do Hurricanes do compared to the 'damage' that SpaceX are making.

From what I have seen of this.. delaying action has two actions. One to delay to protect their legacy companies.. the other is a punishment of wrong thinking..he stands against liberal left think.

I think it would be a great idea to defund the space portion of the FAA bureaucracy and put them out of work.

SpaceX will cooperate with the various government agencies, and they should. However, none of the environmental concerns are a showstopper. There is no way that the government will shut down SpaceX's operations. Look at how many jobs would be lost, billions of revenue dollars lost and loss of advanced space travel capability.

The environmental issues will get resolved. That is not in question. The question is, when will they get resolved. There may be a month or two delay, but it isn't going to be much longer than that.

Furthermore, the 25 launches per year request is not something needed now. That is a future one year minimum requirement. SpaceX is getting the request in early so that by the time it is a requirement, the various government agency concerns will be resolved.

The only reason why SpaceX was allowed to purchase there was for a falcon testing and a weekly launches on weekends.

Hope your move went well. I would like to say that politics and the space programs need to stay separate but that isn't going to happen.😢 love the show/content.

The boosters flight path during descent is initially aimed at landing of the coast into the sea.
It is only when it is on the correct descent path, will it then be maneuvered towards the tower.
Elon has said if it does not look like it will be possible to catch it for some reason.
The booster will be directed to fly back out to sea to crash.
There is no chance of it landing anywhere near a populated area.
It would be ordered to self destruct long before that could occur. 😂✌

The problem most people have with environmentalists approach is that they hide behind regulations and not use actual facts and logic.

I'm pretty sure the pollutants from Brownsville/La Padre international airport contaminates many2 order of magnitudes as compared to Starbase. Hundreds of thousands flights per year with JetA kerosene and Low LEAD!! aviation gas. This is compared to 20sec (launch and landings) of methane igniton (byproduct is CO2 and CO in potable water which is mostly evaporated) for 25 times a year which totals up to a huge time of 500 seconds. Thats not even 10 minutes for a year!

Thr tecq report was sloppy, sure. Fix that and move on. Doesnt have to stop operations especially during testing phase (Its 20sec every month or so). Just figure it out for when they do 3 a day.
