Really helpful, thanks! I think the general advice is to always use the active voice, so it was really helpful to hear you talk about good situations to use the passive voice.

Journal editors love fewer words, so active voice cures verbosity. Active is more common in the social sciences, where strength of argument wins over reviewers.
