First start up of the Hachette Spitfire Mk 1a with modified base

This is the Hachette Partworks 1/18 scale Mk 1a Spitfire. The plane comes with a very large base. I have made a smaller bespoke base using the supplied lift motors. Total cost approx Au$2400 (1000 UK Pounds). The kit was initially released in the UK and then subsequently limited release around the world. The kit has a few technical issues which many other builders were unhappy with. But a good model builder can easily resolve these issues and produce a top quality finished model.

If the base had a rotating belt you could start with grass/runway, make it shrink and then have sky background. I think that is how they shot the Thunderbirds.
