The union government is planning to implement new labour laws in India from July 1. The new labour codes have been created by subsuming 29 central laws.

They will have an impact on -
Timings - Working hours
Salary
Provident fund (PF) contribution
Leave eligibility of employees.

Timing: Once the new labour code becomes effective, companies can increase employees' work hours to 12, up from 9.

However, companies with a #12-hour shift will have to provide three weekly offs i.e. a four-day work week.

The company cannot force employees to work more than 48 hours a week.

Salary: Under the new wage code, the basic salary will be at least 50% of the gross monthly salary.

#providentfund (PF) contribution: PF contributions made by employees as well as employers will be increased. Since the salary is taking a hit, the retirement corpus and #gratuityamount will increase. Those working in the #privatesector will be more affected by this.

#Leaveeligibility of employees: Earlier, employees had to work at least 240 days a year to ask for leave. Now, it has been reduced by 60 days which means you need just 180 working days.
