Underrated Anime and Manga Protagonists

I know this is going to be a really really hot take and while I would never ever dream of putting this guy close to my top 3 I’d probably put him somewhere between 8-10 but Asta from black clover. This character took a long time to become his own character same with the series but it’s palpable when you realize who Asta truly is and anyone who has the patience to go through the series will point to this too: when Asta had both of his arms broken irreparably he took it. He never moped, let it get in the way of him doing his job, or even getting his spirits down when anyone in their right mind would’ve. It’s this sense of hope that radiates through him, hell other characters in similar predicaments find him to be a black sheep because of that. He’s not as deep or depressing as anyone on this list, but sometimes that’s what a character is and when done right it doesn’t make them any less interesting

I really like Satoru from Erased, I thought he was an interesting protagonist, and his relationships with other characters, especially Airi and his mom were well written. His friendship with Hinazuki was so cute and wholesome. Satoru was very relatable in a sense, and is pretty underrated in my opinion

David Martinez is an overated protagonist, there really wasn't much to his character tbh
