UDK Custom Vehicle - Hummer with a Rocket launcher Part 4 (Damage Morph Targets)

This video shows you how to create damage morph targets for your vehicle which will be linked into the animtree..
Then when your vehicle takes damage from either end or side the damage is updated in real time to the vehicle....

Actor x is a plugin for 3ds Max and Maya which is in your UDK directory here,
C:\UDK\UDK-2011-09\Binaries\ActorX

Pick the one for your build of Max or Maya and place it here for 64 bit windows,
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2011\plugins

And here for X86 windows,
C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\3ds Max 2011\plugins

There isn't Actor x available for Max 2012 at the time of this tutorial.

In that particular vehicle I used boxes instead of bones and that's why they were visible !

If you go onto the UDN and type in FBX Pipeline it will explain everything...You could also watch my "Baking animation onto a skeleton" video because that covers animation export and import into UDK

On the last video you got cut off right when you started making an animtree.  Were there any steps between right clicking and creating the anim tree to hotting OK in the box that pops up?

i know you can make difference models for difference damage but can you just make it like difference septet mechs but all in one that bits just fall off instead of using 2 mechs or more just use one and bits for all when it gets damaged

Have you adjusted the drag grid or the scale grid in view?

I noticed the bones were visible when you were smashing the front, is this a setting when exporting from max, or am i missing something something from earlier?

Hi Dave

Been trying to follow your tutorial here but been using Fbxs rather than Active X. Got as far as adding the morph tagrets but it doesn't pick up Fbxs on the sliders that appear with your Active x format. Any ideas?

if you make a destroyable building in udk with the destruction tool is there any way of making a car where bit come off when it is damaged let say i hit a building (front of the car) the front bumper comes off and if i like take to meany hit on a wheel the wheel comes of the car
