What a truly beautiful person! Must have been so hard to approach us Finns and talk about religion as many of us are inverted and non-religious. Yet he appreciates many features of our culture. So wonderful. I wish more people would be like him when meeting with other cultures. And his Finnish skills, WOW!

I really appreciate how he said Finnish is a very precise and expressive language. I don't hear people talk about that, but those are my favourite things about the language. It's also quite flexible. You can express and pack a lot of information in just a few words.

The thing with finnish is that it has two different ways of speaking when it comes to formal and informal speech.

Well spoken finnish! if i had anything to suggest work on that cadence a bit (finnish cadence/weight is even on every syllable) and make the consonants harder! that's the finnish way. (edit) you're near perfect, don't take my advice too seriously.

Wonderful video it was really nice to hear you had a nice experience here!

You seem to be geniunely interested in learning to perfect your language skills so that's why I'll just comment a few things. We do always pronounce the "'ä", in every word including "mitä". Perhaps you've misheard someone but saying "mita" instead would actually feel a bit difficult for us.

You can play around with rolling the r's depending if you want to sound particularly brisk or mellow. The news readers in TV (particlarly YLE) go crazy with it - it's just how they've done it since for ever and makes it sound more authorative. Just by using adjectives such as brisk, mellow, authorative gives you the clue what kind of rolling or softness I'm talking about.

Enivei, sun suomi on hyvinkin pitkälti täydellistä joten onneksi olkoon sulla on kielellistä lahjakkuutta! :)

Miten teitä saa tulemaan kylään juttelemaan. Asun yksin ja olisi kiva saada juttuseuraa.

I spent decades bragging about Finnish culture, Finnish landscapes, Finnish music, ad nauseum. Then I discovered a 19th-century text, W Malmivaaraˀs Siionin virret, that to me seemed rather much like Daneˀs Divina commedia, so I translated all 10, 000 rhymed lines of it to English. It was a work of love and a friendly gesture. I did not expect thanks, prizes, or fame for doing so, nor did I expect what happened. For five years, nothing happened. I thought everything was fine. Then all hell broke loose. I still have no idea why Finns have poured so much hatred on me for doing so, nor why not a single Finn is capable of defending me, but there it is. Finns want to make enemies of their friends, so be it.
