How to Advertise Your Salon on Social Media

Advertising your salon business on Social Media can seem overwhelming, but in actuality it's like anything else - practice, experiment, see what works, do more of that, see what doesn't, do less of that. Seems simple, but that really is the formula. Super excited to have Russell Khan, Director of Commerce at The Sasha Group, on today's show to talk all about how to advertise on Social Media.

“How do two brothers get into the nail care business?” This is the single most common question people ask us. There’s a long and rocky version but we’ll give you the short one. We have our fearless and unconventional mother, Young Salo, to thank. With a single-minded entrepreneurial spirit, she decided to start her own business at the age of 49. She had a passion for the nail industry and we did everything in our power to support her. In the end, this is a family business.

Greg, the older brother, became a licensed nail technician after switching gears from fire fighter’s training. He is energy personified and has a true passion for developing the best professional nail care products and education. Habib is the younger brother. He jumped in a few years later; taking a detour from medical school and a life in music. He brings his own creative mind for business, marketing and strategy. Unexpectedly, we are a perfect team.

Today, more than 20 years later, Young Nails Inc., is a professional nail care manufacturing company exporting to over 40 countries worldwide and distributing domestically to over 3000 stores. We’re respected for our next-level product innovation and education. Our mission is to bring you the best quality products and we’ll show you how to use them with incredible results. It’s really that simple.

Welcome to the Young Nails family!

Awesome video!!! Thanx guys!😁 I have boosted my most popular post on Facebook and Instagram and its really helped a lot with growing my clientele!❤ I also post to my local Facebook groups in and around my area. Then I put a link to my business FB page on the add and all my clients leave reviews on my business page so that ladies can read them. My FB business page is also linked to my Instagram business account (both are public, I think that's also something important to think about, because public profiles get more exposure) and that makes it easier for me to post as I post on Instagram and it automatically posts to my FB business page as well. Absolutely love this video and would love to see more on marketing topics xxx❤ thanx for all your amazing videos!

Great info...very informative. However, I STRONGLY DISAGREE with encouraging reviews on Yelp. They are scam artists that try to harass businesses by phone and blackmail you into paying them to release your reviews! Look into it...it's terrible. We encourage Google and Facebook reviews instead. Love you guys! Keep up the awesome biz vids!

I have a slight "concern" about reviews due to a bad experience from a former salon I worked at. Before I begin please note than I am fully aware that there will be a bad review about something or someone where ever you go. The former salon I looked at would get one bad review and once the one was posted it seemed like all the bad reviews would come out of the wood work and we would get what seemed like twenty more horrible reviews. Some dropped names, others just bashed the salon. Although my name didn't get dropped (to my knowledge) I was still associated with said salon and had their name on all of my work (commission based.) I even had an experience where I told someone where I worked and she simply replied with "Oh, I've seen all the bad reviews and opted out of going there." Granted I did do everything in my power to get her to come in and check the place out, even offered her a free service. The salon star rating always fluctuated slightly from 5-4.7 stars but the reviews held people back. These horrible reviews would come in waves and it always seemed to be the same thing every time. It was frustrating because I felt like that was another block in the road for me to get new clientele ON TOP OF all the marketing I was attempting to do via social media. Since that experience I have never been one to be fond of reviews. AND since said experience I've not wanted people to leave reviews in fear that something like that would happen. Again, I 100% understand that you can not please everyone and that there will be bad reviews but this just seemed so intense and really put a damper on the potential clientele we could have received. I have since left said salon and am currently booth rent and busting butt on marketing myself BUT....asking for reviews just scares me.

The only objection I have is that I was actually asking for yelp reviews, and yelp deleted all except 1. And flagged them as "not reccomended". When I called to ask why they said that their algorithm flagged them as solicited reviews so, they were removed. Yelp sucks IMO.
