National Reciprocity Is Broken & Here's Why

National Reciprocity is supposed to protect your right to carry across state lines—but thanks to states like New Jersey, it’s completely broken.

New Jersey residents have to go through a bureaucratic nightmare just to exercise their Second Amendment rights, while non-residents from states with far easier processes can carry freely. How does that make sense?

🔴 Here’s what you’re up against in NJ:
✔️ Nearly $1,000 in fees just to get a carry permit
✔️ Endless paperwork & mandatory training just to exercise a constitutional right
✔️ One of the shortest permit renewal periods in the country
✔️ A system designed to discourage gun ownership instead of protect citizens

Meanwhile, a guy from Kentucky, who barely had to fill out a form, can carry in New Jersey without issue. That’s not how reciprocity should work.

And here’s the thing—the history of gun control has never been about safety. It’s always been about control. From the Black Codes after the Civil War to the 1968 Gun Control Act, restrictive laws have been used to disarm the “undesirables.”

📢 THIS is how they weaponize bureaucracy to strip away your rights. And if you think this only affects New Jersey, think again—once they get away with it in one state, they’ll try it everywhere.

Almost 20 years ago, I moved from New Jersey to America over the issue of Second Amendment rights.

I own the hoodie version. I forgot I was wearing it one day and dropped by my job to pick up some paperwork after hours. I work at a charter school. The next day I was called to the office and they asked about my hoodie. I was feeling stupid. I explained my stance and they said we whole heartedly agree. Would you join our safety council and carry on premises. My mouth fell open. I love this school. Are we perfect no. Are the kids safe. Safer than I thought a school could be. Keep up the great work!
Edit: Before anyone asks its a Texas School.

Federal constitutional carry is the answer. Good thing that's already in the constitution

As a gun owner who lives in New Jersey. Yeah it’s super expensive and restrictive.

I live in New Jersey. A few years back my wife, my son and I drove down to Florida to go on a cruise with a stop to visit relatives. In Florida, when I exited the interstate, I didn’t see the red light at the bottom of the ramp, thinking it was a yield, I proceeded. Naturally a policeman was right there and he stopped me and called for backup. While questioning me, he asked if I had any weapons in the car. “I’m from New Jersey! We aren’t permitted to have weapons”. Both police officers nearly fell to the ground laughing. Gave me a warning and told me to be careful.

I'm from Newark NJ. The southward, Seth Boyden Projects. This is so true. I enlisted in the army almost 3 decades ago, been to war many times and came back to this country only to see nothing's changed. Pray to God, get your money right, protect your family and live righteous.

No federal funding to states which violate the supreme laws of the land, simple as.

Live in NJ and your explanation is spot on trust me it blows what we have to go through and on top of that we need a permit for every hand gun we get and you can’t buy 2 within a 30 day window

National reciprocity should make it easier to sue over the loss of rights in places like New Jersey.

South Jersey resident here. Thank you for doing this video. Nobody ever talks about the oppression in Nj. Something needs to be done for us.

When it comes to bad gun laws, Colorado just set the bar pretty high.

I just recently got my NYC CCW and was thinking of getting the NJ nonresident CCW but when I found out it’s only good for two years I decided not to apply.

I can’t wait until national CCW reciprocity to pass

I'm a retired LEO from NJ . I moved to Georgia in 2017 right after I retired. The day I retired I could not legally carry hollow points in my weapon. When I was still working I couldn't handle a weapon at a store unless I had a permit to show them even if I was in uniform and I still had to pay for a background check even though I was still on the job.

Spot on, AGAIN sir!! NJ has been that way for a LONG time. My cousin took a construction job up there (late 70's-early 80's). Got pulled over for a taillight. Cops saw the end of a box of JHP sticking out from under the seat and went into full SWAT/PANIC mode. Tore his car & hotel room apart till they found his beautiful gold-trimmed Browning Hi Power. They told him he would have been better off with a trunk full of hard drugs. They said that THEY couldn't even possess those dangerous "dum-dum" bullets he had. He told them that everyone just did this as a matter of course back home here in Alabama. Showed his AL carry permit, etc. to no avail. TWO felonies; 1) the pistol and 2) the cartridges plus SEVERAL trips back to Jersey for court dates. He didn't know. Man, he knew before they got through with him!!! Back to your point, it's NEVER been about safety...always CONTROL!!! Thanks again for what you do.

As someone who lived in NJ almost all my life, yeah it’s insane

That's insane. I live right next door to New Jersey in PA. It only cost me $25 to get my carry permit, which is good for 5 yrs, and my application was approved in less than a day, and I bought my first carry pistol the following week
