i’m moving to tokyo in january on a student visa, i’m very excited for this new chapter in my life! also i think a good video idea could be comparing life in your home country to japan, like which aspects are better and worse of each. because switzerland is always rated as “the best country” on earth, but it would be cool to hear thoughts on it from someone who lived there and actually moved out of switzerland.

Thanks for creating and sharing this video.
The decision by consensus seems to have arisen from the collectivist attitude to the natural forces you mentioned before. If one person came up with a solution to a natural disaster etc, that wasn't appropriate, the whole system falls apart. Sure it can be frustrating but understanding it's origins alleviates some of the pain. Same thing for making noise. If walls were originally made paper thin (Literally) in the past then what you do effects everyone in ear shot of you. If your neighbors are meters away from you it's going to cause ill feelings and ultimately conflict when sounds come between you.
Technical note: Forgive me for saying so, but I'm not a big fan of the film burn transitions used so often as they were in this video.

What was your strategy for learning Japanese?

I know some foreigners who spend years in the country and still cant hold basic conversation ans are illiterate, which is crazy.
