The Best Monitor Calibrator? SpyderX Elite Review
A few weeks ago, I reviewed the Spyder 5 Elite monitor calibrator from Datacolor. After that, they emailed me and said, "Want to review the new SpyderX Elite we are working on?" YES! Monitor calibration for photography is extremely important. Photographers spend hours scouting and finding the best light to photograph. Now, we have a tool that can match our hard work in exploration for the best light and color in the SpyderX Elite. It is the best monitor calibrator you can buy.

Are you editing from your laptop? It does not provide a 100% srgb colors. I've also have an Asus laptop that says it's 100% srgb on the box (that's why i bought it). But when i calibrated it with the Spyder5 pro. It says it's only 94% (If im not mistaken) srgb.. the colors does not match my ASUS PB328Q. This is why i never edit on my laptop.

North Idaho my home, so much to see and absolutely amazing landscapes everywhere! Thanks for the reccomendation on the Vallerret Markhof 2.0 gloves they were awsome this winter especially while snowshoeing. Keep up the great content as I'm still new but a sponge just soaking it all up.

My favorite place to shoot landscape photo is visiting a place that I have never been there before or studied in dept like watching a documentary/film about that place but with limited knowledge about it. I would then discover the magic of that place myself and capture all the best moment the place has to offer through my camera. So for me, my next destination is my favorite place.

Acadia National Park has been my favorite place to shoot landscapes because it's given me all the elements I need to incorporate everything i've learned about composition for landscapes. Lots of leading lines, interesting foreground, mid and background subjects. It's really a great place to go in the North East to apply the concepts so many of us learn on youtube. Thanks for all the great content!

Sorry, quick question: How often would you need to calibrate your monitor? would it make sense the investment? Thanks

Just went through Monument Valley, the colors, the rough cut spires, just awesome and breath taking! That's my favorite place right now. 5-21-2019.

Would this work for you if you're just a competitive gamer and your monitor calibration is bad out of the box. I have a 240hz TN.thanks

Fernie, British Columbia. Canada. Everything from woodlands to waterfalls. Urban to wilderness. A monitor calibrator would help so much in my process to start having my images printed. Great videos!!

I recommend visiting Lofoten in Norway all landscape photographers. I visited there only one time but planning will visit again. David, thanks to your youtube lessons that are easy to follow non-native English speaker too.

Right now my favorite place in Crosswinds Marsh in Michigan. I live in southeast Michigan and there isn't high mountains or seascapes to shoot from. This marsh is local to me and is still 30 minutes from my home. It pushes you to find the intimate details of a landscape. It doesn't have any grand vistas or epic scenes. It is intimate and with a limited amount of time and knowledge of this place you can find small little gems. I wish I could go to those grand places, but for now with school and work it isn't in my cards. I will keep practicing and watching youtube when I can and hopefully become great one day. Thank you for the great videos and tutorials. Best regards

My favourite place is Killarney Provincial Park in Ontario. It's a provincial park because the Ontario Society of Artists fought for it to be preserved in the 1920s. It's an ancient mountain range - beautiful white rock hills dotted with deep blue lakes, pine trees clinging to the side of cliffs, digging their roots into the rock. You can only get to the interior by canoe or on foot. It's amazing.

One of my favourites is at night with a full moon here in Manitoba. You can get some really neat timed shots that look like day without the shadows.

I wish you would do a side by side comparison on how the Spyder5 and X compare....basically, all you said was the X is faster and has a lens and the color is better. But did that translate in print results? Can you give us two printed photographs? As of February 2020, Spyder5Elite is more expensive than the X.

Wicklow, Ireland.. that's home. I'm living in the U.S now but when I have the chance to take the camera home with me, there are some fantastic scenes in Glendalough, Wicklow. Whether it's the old monk's round tower, the Sally Gap, or the upper lake at Glendalough you're guaranteed at least a couple of spectacular shots. The upper lake at dawn is something else, give it a google!

Skip ahead to 2:50 to where the actual review starts. Here's what it says.... It's a lot faster than the Spyder 5. That's it.

Thanks David for the review it was really helpful. My favourite place is anywhere on the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland but especially on Achill Island. The rugged beauty and scenery is hard to beat. Love your approach in your videos open and honest.

One of the best places to take landscape photographs, with proper cloud conditions is in Myra Canyon Park, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada
