What she said at 2:20 is acctually so true. School literally sucks the fun out of doing anything. You cant appreciate a good poem without having to analyse every single thing 🙄

Why is this so relatable to many students

As a student currently in her position i get how she's feeling. The world is such a big place and there's so many different paths you can go down.

Schools put so much pressure on children, it's so damaging to their mental health becuase of all of the stress, I understand that they are preparing us for life, however it's so stressful and so damaging to the children

These two teachers are so passionate about teaching, it was so sweet and that’s how teachers should be

If only I could have those facilities in my school/college. I would have never missed a day! Even sundays!

We're on the same page there, the days of going to the park and messing about in yr 7
are outnumbered :/

I understand how she feels, when I finished school I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do. However she really needs to get her head down and start planning for her future. She needs to realise she can’t stay a kid forever. I wish my teachers would of been supportive and pushed me more, like the teachers did in this video. I had completely given up on myself and the teachers didn’t even try to help. I like how the teachers are constantly trying to push her in the right direction. it’s actually good the teachers are being pushy/strict and keeping on top of things, instead of being laid back, it shows they are doing their job well and pushing them forward to get them an education. A lot of teenagers need to be pushed, otherwise they will give up easily and carry on wanting everything done for them. It’s actually important to give a bit of tough love to teenagers, because they need to learn about meeting deadlines/taking responsibility for themselves. Yes it can be a stressful time for the student, but a teacher is being pushy within good reason. So yeah, I really respect the teachers and the hard work they put into to help them get an education. 😃

i genuinely wish Makeda all the best in life she’s doing amazing and you can just tell she’s a really bright girl and will go places when she puts her mind to it the only thing that set her back was she was unsure of her plan in life, as are many teenagers at only 16!! that’s so young to decide what you want to do in college but i really hope she’s doing amazing right now and loves what she’s doing in life

When the teacher asked if she was actually trying I got so pissed. Look at her face, if she wasn’t trying then she wouldn’t cry. She is trying. I hope now in 2020 as a adult has treated her well.

Just for anyone who is worried or in the same boat! I left sixth form half way through due to ongoing mental health issues, which meant I didn’t get any a levels. I’m in my early 20s now and am taking an a level online that I paid for, and going to college next year, which I then will have the right grades for university! A lot of my friends all wish they had taken a couple of years off to really think about what they wanted to do because uni shouldn’t be taken lightly, it’s a lot of money, yeah I’m sure it’s great fun too but just take time out if you need to to gather your thoughts and proceed afterwards - it’s better than having a degree you don’t want to do anything with ! No matter how old you are you can pursue something new, don’t compare yourself to how quickly others are doing things because they’re likely just doing the same as everyone else because it’s what we’ve been told to do after school. Do what is right for you. Hell, travel if you want to! The universities aren’t going anywhere !

I understand schools put pressure on students, and it’s a shame and it can be a difficult and stressful time, however in the long term-I actually appreciate schools being pushy. it’s better for schools to be pushy/strict and keeping on top of things, instead of being laid back. It shows they are doing their job well and pushing you forward to get you an education. As a teenager at school, I used to hate it and thought teachers were just annoying. But as I have grown up, I actually appreciate that approach. A lot of the time, teenagers need little kick up the arse (to put it harshly.) otherwise they will keep acting carefree and being a kid and never wanting to grow up. If you keep doing everything for them, they will never learn to be responsible. Having the tough love approach is actually really helpful. I know it can put pressure on them and can be a stressful time, but they only do it because they care. Tbh nothing comes easy in life, you have to work for it. And I think that is what the teachers are trying to teach them. 💕
