I'm going to watch the movie "Salt" on this bad boy Wednesday. I've had this player for about 5 years now and I love it. It plays DVDs, Blu Rays, 4K Blu Rays, and even .MKV files from a flash drive!

Do yourself a favor and spend less than 20 bucks, get a Panasonic 9000 remote for the 820. It's fully compatible, button layout is better, more quick action buttons, netflix button location is better positioned, has a forward and reverse skip and it's backlit. Get the one with a HDR setting button on the bottom row. It's well worth it.

Can this player upscale standard definition DVD content ? I'm looking for a player with the best upcaling on the market. If not this one can you name one ???? Lots of dirt cheap old school discs out there that could be used

My receiver supports True Hd. I'm guessing this would have no issues with playing those audio files?

Hello, I have a question, does it play music CDs with screen off like a CD player? This is one of only few blu-ray players that still have LCD screen and playing CDs is probably only reason I would like it, if it doesn't work like that, then I don't need LCD.

Good video. Just got this player and for playback it's great. I also have an Xbox series x. Id recommend putting it on the shelf the 4k player is on, and visa versa So that the vent of the Xbox has breathing room. It's currently right up against a wall.

Buddy I need help. I want to be able to use headphones with a SMLS DAC DO400 that I bought via optical cable. Can you please let me know what settings I need to turn on/off in order to accomplish this?

I have my audio output optical cable run to my audio input on my SMLS DO400.
The video out in my bluray player is connected to the HDMI input to my 3D Studio Mini Soundbar from Definitive Technology.
The Earc from my soundbar is connected to my TV.
In order to enjoy audio using the optical cable I Set audio output to "OFF" in advance settings.

And that is where I am stuck. I have no audio from my headphones just crackling noise. Think u can help?
I am going to get a new optical cable to discard I have a bad cable.

Very nice player and OLED TV. Though Im waiting for Panasonic to start selling their OLED TV in the Americas before I get one of these. Panasonic still make the very best Video products

I have a region 2 bluray not 4k of three amigos and mine will play it no problem.

Worth mentioning is that if you have any intention of using this to playback 4K MKV files then you'll be bitterly disappointed. As of Jan 2025, almost all 4K H265 content will not play. About 75% of the time it did play the video stream but literally 90% of the audio streams were unsupported codecs. This was with the latest firmware. It is clear that Panasonic really don't care about this product or they would have added more codec support. The position of the Netflix button on the remote is also infuriating as I have hit it several times in the dark by accident and each time it just crashed the player.
