"A Plague Tale Requiem" has been a very emotional journey for the whole team. Sometimes games let you express more than just a story. This is what makes this one very special to me.

The sad fact that this masterpiece got no awards 😭 should have got the best story telling and soundtrack

This is the best game I played in 2022, and probably in the last couple of years. There are moments in this game that I will never forget.

The ending left me devastated. Throughout both games I always was hoping and wishing for a happy ending for Hugo, he so much deserved that. The fact that the devs made you kill him was difficult to do, it left me broken. Rest in peace Hugo

Poor Amicia. I know she's a fictional character but dayum... Seeing her be torn apart, body mind and soul for hours upon hours in hopes of completing what is a simple, noble, and relatable, but ultimately futile goal is heartwrenching. and this Requiem drives it home beautifully. Even the cover art, where you see her determined, yet pained and emaciated face, guarding her brother's ghostlike one is a work of art on it's own.

I’m not sure what the creators’ exact intention was or whether I interpreted it correctly, but I get the impression that A Plague Tale serves as an important social commentary on difficult topics like euthanasia and the use of aggressive therapies in palliative care. Perhaps, sometimes, it is better to let go and allow someone to pass away.
Throughout the story, Amicia and her mother try their best to find a cure for Hugo, but at the very end of this extraordinary journey, Hugo himself asks to let go and let him go.
I appreciate that the game leaves players with this reflection without trying to impose a moral judgment on whether such a decision is right or wrong. In the character of King Hugo, I see the embodiment of hundreds of thousands of palliative care patients in hospices and hospitals worldwide—often unresponsive, unable to communicate their feelings or thoughts on artificial life support. Are we truly helping them, or are we merely prolonging their suffering?

This game was necessary to make us think more about these issues.

"A Plague Tale: Requiem" has placed it so high on my list of favorite games that it's basically untouchable at this point. Everything about it is so majestically entrancing that it is legitimately hard to put into words just how great it is.

This song alone has brought me to tears each time I've played through the game, as well as each time it plays on shuffle. The memories this game, and this song have instilled are SO powerful! Thank you for creating this masterpiece of a track.

Immediately when I heard this in the nebula, impression I had was that Amicia was stuck in her own limbo / afterlife because of how angelic the music was.
I can't explain the feelings that swelled up inside me. Somehow I knew that it was over for Hugo before we see him again, as he was simply trying to teach Amicia to let go with the last of his willpower.

Thank you Mr. Deriviere. Plague Tale would not be what it is without your contribution! My GOTY.

I had to edit to add, the lyrics area already making me teary eyed, this is incredible.

The lyrics are so simple, and yet they capture such complex feelings and themes! I am absolutely in love with this. Thank you for sharing the lyrics with us English speakers, Olivier!! Def best soundtrack of 2022

For the first time, the game and the soundtrack made me cry not only because of the plot and the music, but because the theme is so close to me - to be able to give up and let go of loved ones. It is hard to accept your own helplessness. It is painful to allow yourself the thought that your struggle is meaningless. And it is scary to be alone.

I understand all of Amicia's emotions and feelings. This uncontrollable anger. This desire, even if you are tired mentally and physically, to just move forward. This misunderstanding and rejection of the gradual inevitability. This all-consuming fear of losing that little and bright in your life.

And I understand the fatigue of the tortured Hugo, who just wants to spend his last days in peace. I still have not lived through my grief, and for many years now I have been depressed with intermittent anger. And this Requiem reminds me of my senseless struggle with death.

My rage at the words of loved ones that it is time to come to terms with death. My complete rejection of reality.

This is an excellent game. And a totally excellent soundtrack.

I get that Hugo's death was sad, but what really cemented the anguish for me was when Lucas didn't stick around after things were over. His trauma was never really explored and I guess he's suffered way more than we ever acknowledged, so the fact that he chose to leave Amicia despite the trauma bond being so strong in most cases hit pretty hard

Rarely has a game left me with so many questions about life, death, loss, love. This music is not only that of A plague Tale, it is also that of our emotions. I made the decision for it to be played at my funeral. It will definitively seal my eternal alliance with my beloved.

"One can save millions of lives, but millions cannot save one.”

Oliver, I heard organ music, this is music that plays on the strings of the soul and the wonderful choir that they put into this singing. Believe it or not, it is very difficult in our time to see such a close understanding of the game developers and composers... The ending created emptiness in me and, giving birth to something new in awareness, taught me a lot. Thank you, I haven’t experienced such emotions for many years and you gave them to me. This is a thank you not only to you but also to the live choir who helped you.

When this plays and Amicia understands that there is nothing she can do...that fighting is pointless... it is the pinnacle of her development... It breaks my heart...but that sadness is beautiful... For me this angelic music is dedicated to that feeling.

That was the best decision you could have made for this game. Throughout 'Requiem' I was hoping that the 'Beyond the Horizon' theme would make a reappearance. And then... here it was. At the grand finale. Everything, from the choir to the organ to the timing was pure perfection. Chapeau, M. Deriviere!
