Kate Garraway Opens Up On Telling Derek’s Story and Fighting For Carer Support | This Morning

Last night Kate’s documentary ‘Derek’s story’ aired, telling the events of the final six months of his life. Viewers saw an insight into his progress, both physically and mentally, as well as the hugely demanding daily care services he needed. Derek sadly passed on 3rd January 2024, but Kate is determined to help transform the social care system to support people in a similar position who are struggling to manage life as a carer and the financial burden it brings.

Kate is an amazing human who is fighting and advocating for every carer out there who are voiceless. Anyone who has anything negative to say about her has serious issues and need to take their negativity somewhere else. Humans are full of judgemental behaviours. Kate your humanity and compassion is what makes you great.

The long term Covid response Derek had seems like it’s very very rare. I haven’t heard of anyone else left this debilitated. It looked like MND. God bless you Derek so sorry for all you went through.

I love Kate and I watched the documentary last night. I really feel for her and her family. She did the right thing letting it be shown because that's what Derek wanted. Very empathetic and caring lady. ❤️

Lots of negative comments as usual regarding Kate....if you watched it last night, you would know that Kate is wanting our social care to improve.... surely that is a good thing... its down to our Government to improve our system....its needs improvement big time and that needs sorting out...

I think Ben tries to undermine Kate. Cat asked a genuine question how kate felt after watching the documentary and she said she was quite for an hour, he had to interupt and say its unusual for her. He is probably trying to funny but its rude as shes speaking about her experiences. I've noticed he undermines her when they use work together on Good Morning Britain.
