2023 San Diego County Fair - Del Mar Fair! Butterflies, Camels, Wood, Gems, And More!

The annual San Diego County Fair - also known as the Del Mar Fair. Lots to see and do with so much more than just food and rides (past covid years were just food). The theme was Get Out There - and major exhibits included various different Parks and Recs of city, county, state, and fed reps, including various non-profits and localized park systems. It was great and sad to have that as a theme as it might show a lack of interest in (thus need to promote) hiking, camping, and the great outdoors.

Other highlights were the free petting zoo with alpaca, llama, sheep, pig, goat, and chickens - and even wallabies (but you couldn't pet them. There were display camels, goats, pigs, and other livestock, as well as shows and detailed info on egg processing, various types of animal yarn, and multiple goods for sale. Woodworking, flower arrangements, and outdoor garden displays were very cool and the model train had some fun easter eggs for the grown up patrons.

Fast forward to the food! Hot Cheetos, pineapples, coconuts, and Asian foods dominated the scene outside the typical corn dog, funnel cake, and turkey leg. I had a Hawaiian chicken with pineapple in a pineapple! Boba tea and cold brew coffee saved the day while walking around and taking in the sights and random, free street entertainment! Get Out There!
