Every great guitar player (whether they’re famous or not), has learned the Triad Trick that I’m about to show you in this lesson. It’s one of the coolest sounds out there when it comes to getting a totally unique sound from common Major & Minor triads. All it takes is you learning two common triad arpeggios.

I’ve called the lesson’s triad idea our, “3-note Triad Trick.” It is simple enough that you’ll learn to use it in a few minutes. But, it’s so powerful that it will give you the ultimate way to build an option for complex new sounds across a lifetime - taking your playing from “ordinary” to extraordinary.

This lesson has got everything covered for you including; triad shapes, jazzy backing chords, the theory behind the idea and an example solo that applies the “3-note Triad Trick” over a Smooth Jazz rhythm jam.

The first thing we’re going to do is learn two triad arpeggios. They’ll be “C” Major arpeggio and another triad arpeggio three notes away (the; “E” Minor).

After learning those triad arpeggios, I’ll explain their use over two 7th chords of “Cmaj7” and “Fmaj7.” Then, we’ll discuss the music theory behind this principle which is called, “Superimposed Harmony & Melody.”

Our superimposed substitution will function around an “Em” arpeggio played over top of an “Fmaj7” chord. I’ve also included a guitar solo example for you.

I've been researching "Superimposition" since watching your video here. Seems like there are multiple ways to approach this technique. I'm going to reach out to you on Patreon DM and ask a few questions. Because I am a little unclear about what the better way is to get a less unstable sound than this altered idea here. Thanks for a great lesson, nobody else makes lessons like you. You're like a "Guitar Professor" and I learn so much from you - Thanks!

Thank you for another outstanding guitar with theory video

... so on the Fmaj9(b5), the first finger is supposed to hold down the F and Bb notes right; b/c you're not showing that on the box diagram.
