I had to make this 3D model of the Nicolaaskerk for a school project.
At first I tried to find reference material online, but most photo's from Google where not that great. So, I and a friend decided to go to Amsterdam to shoot reference material by our selves. I made this panorama image from 4 photos that I took. From there I started modeling in my favorite software C4D. I modeled only one 8th of the model and mirrored it around. My end goal was to model this church with less than 10.000 tries (5.000 polys). But I Before I knew I was modeling a realistic model with a way too high poly count. So I Later retopod the model and got rid of some unnecessary edges en polygons. And my final mesh luckily ended up whit less than 10.000 tries. Even though my first attempt was way to high in poly count I am still pretty happy with the result. For making the UV's I unwrapped only one section before mirroring it, this way al the duplicated UV's would get copied on top of each other. Hereby saving a lot of otherwise wasted texture space.
