This warmed my overwhelmed heart. Bless you dear *virtual daughter* for this video. To anyone viewing it....please consider it priceless & share!
My own need for such generosity hit hard early last year. As someone who already barely leaves home & resides in a lovely yet very tiny town, I already knew isolation well. Once sleep studies showed lack of oxygen getting to my brain, I honestly felt like my only option would be to accept a spot in assisted living.
So when my medical staff said even the crock pot was too risky in the event I had a seizure causing God only knows what might happen, it left me wondering how I'd manage to fill this vital need. The ONLY appliance I'm allowed to use is my microwave. It's still a risk, but at least it shuts off unlike the stove top/oven/or my beloved crock pot.
As someone who has performed many of these tasks mentioned in this video with only a prayer & selfless heart...being told I'd have to find others to prepare meals for me ripped yet another stitch from what remains of my ever torn dignity. The multi-trauma I endured since a wee child became triggered, reminding me of the cruel adoptive family whose favored punishment was withholding food all because I spoke with a C. European accent & wrote with my left-hand.
It was embarrassing that first afternoon when I queried my closest neighbors last June. All have similar financial & medical woes as myself. The ONLY light I saw during that time period was from healthier years of my own when I cooked for my children or nearby elders. I was able to drive so I'd also run errands for them/others in need...including delivery of food boxes and/or extra harvest from my own garden.
I continue to suffer asking others for assistance because I'd grown up in a world where if I didn't do something, it just failed to get done...so I looked deep within my soul and found a solution which is very slowly starting to turn others *excess* into much more than I ever imagined. All I did was inquire if anybody had made too much food and could they spare some of it. Each well aware of my medical woes, {the downfall of close-knit neighbors.} One set of neighbors in particular, {empty nesters like myself} found my dilemma solved their own because both couldn't get used to cooking for 3 instead of 7 hungry individuals. More times than not...I end up with enough food to share. In turn, those people cooked or purchased food for me. Whether it be clearing out my own food stock, purchasing items for others to make abundant meals, and/or growing more food in our gardens...everybody has food. Everybody has benefited in some positive way.
The grandest part is that shortly after this exchange began ...my neighbors started receiving *excess* game meat, produce, and other necessities from folks they have befriended. Oddly, none of it took place till my request for something the masses toss out on a daily basis. I still feel embarrassed by the inability to cook for myself and/or exchange my own *excess* meals for the hundreds they all have made for me. However, I'm slowly healing through these simple & selfless acts of others.
So if you've learned anything positive from this novella of mine....it just might be what's missing in your own life or the life of those you love. I'd rather NOT have lack of O2 to my brain which is causing my seizures, but if this negativity of 1{me} has turned positive for dozens of others....it's a burden I'm willing to carry. Here's hoping this can be possible in other neighborhoods worldwide..preferably w/o severe health issues. Much love to all, ~ Covah

I received a wonderful lasagne from LASAGNA LOVE once . The volunteer was such a nice woman and I offered a little tip at least for a bus ride but she refused. She surely made a great tasting lasagna and delivered. For that I bless her everyday. 🙏❤️

Thank you for sharing the information about Lasagna Love. Although the website said there was a 2 week wait in my area, it wasn’t that long. Mine was delivered today and it’s delicious! My provider was so kind. She even brought me a loaf of artisan French bread and a dessert. I live alone so this big pan of lasagna will feed me for many meals. I’m so grateful! I shared the information on my FB page.

If you are able bodied and live near grocery stores like Aldi, you need to be dumpster diving. Channels like Freakin Frugal will teach you how to do it. You can’t rely on programs to get the food you need.

Meals on Wheels in my area charges and I have no discretionary money to spend. Even dry fasting & fasting, eating one meal a day, is not enough now, food prices are way too high. Thx Nicole, God bless you.

Thank you for sharing the Lasagnalove program. I signed up just last week after viewing the video & knew I was on a "waiting list". I got a text Tuesday, the 13th & the couple delivered the lasagna last night & it was delicious. We had a big snow storm here in NY & I told them don't chance it, but they came. I & the kids put together a Care Package of Valentine candy & slices of Red Velvet cake as a thank you. They were surprised to receive it.

I hope Meals on Wheels have upped their meals. My grandmother got MOW back in the 1990's and the food was disgusting!

I'm blessed to live in Ann Arbor, MI. We have Food gatherers here. They pick up food over stocked food from grocery stores and restaurants and then distribute it to multiple food banks and sites for free meals. A few food banks even deliver.
