I used to roll my eyes at parents talking about video game addiction, but as I got older, I was addicted. It’s awful and I’d hate to ever go back to it. Such a waste of 12 hours every day

I do not have video game addiction. I have been addicted to video games. Now I am a recreational gamer and just play a little on an average day, but I want to say I appreciate you. Video game addiction is real. I love video games, but it is important to play as part of a balanced lifestyle. Thank you for this channel. You rock.

I used to play 16 hours a day. Now I'm down to 4 to 5 hours, but still struggle to give up more. Still agitated when im away, but im trying! Art was my hobby long ago, and I still can't get motivated to relax enough to do it! Its crazy...

I can't thank your organisation enough,
I wouldn't have ever gotten over my addiction if it hadn't been for you guys.
It's just been just such a help, and sometimes when I am feeling like relapsing,
it's just someone else that understands what you're going through when no one else does.
And I just want to thank you for that

I really can't thank you enough, its been 2 weeks since I sold my ps4 because I was literally getting crazy, my marks at school were going down and I realised that I couldn't stop wasting my time playing games, I've clocked 2800 hours of gaming on my ps4, I just imagine how much I could've done in all this time...
Thanks a lot

I was told “I’ll never stop playing video games, ” despite how absent they are in every other aspect of their life.

I can’t even explain how much this hurts.

The lockdowns due to the COVID-19 situation made me get more into online gaming.

Thanks man. I've recently had a relapse in my gaming addiction and it's really started to negatively impact my relationship with my partner, my study, everything. I've been in therapy for a couple months now to help rectify some underlying issues, but it's nice to have the gaming side of my negative behaviour be laid out in full; it's easy to explain away the addiction, but from how many of the listed symptoms I identified with it's impossible to deny I've fallen back into bad habits. Now I know what I need to fix. Thanks again :)

I believe there was a study which actually said movies hypnotize you.

What if video games can as well?

There are many video games, movies, shows, and other media based content so maybe it depends on what video game or other media content you are looking at or using.

I found some things on hypnosis and got interested remembering the study which said movies hypnotize you.

But this is just based on my research and I am not a hypnotist so who knows if it is completely accurate but this is what it sounds like hypnosis is and what it can do to you.

Hypnosis is actually a real thing. But it sounds like people get inaccurate ideas about what it is. It isn’t like it is portrayed in movies. Speaking of which, it’s funny. There is actually a lot of things about hypnosis in some movies and it is funny movies specifically would give people an innacurate idea of hypnosis too.

Hypnosis feels relaxing. It can make your attention get absorbed on something. It seems like there are several tricks to hypnotize someone. It is not like in the movies where you cannot resist it sources said that is. You cannot hypnotize someone if they don’t want to be hypnotized.

Hypnosis makes you more open minded. Like probably more open minded to things like if someone suggests you should do something or says something. You feel more open to it than normal.

What if video games, or maybe some video games are getting people, “Hooked” by making suggestions while people are hypnotized and put into a, “Trance” to get them hooked?

Maybe people are not actually addicted to the video games, could they just be doing what the companies have opened their subconscious to doing under a trance?

There was something which said that it might actually take multiple hypnosessions to hypnotize someone. And fans of a movie or game, usually particular ones, tend to behave weird, and also get absorbed in it and it is almost like they mentally become some reflection of the movies or games they watch or play, and these, “fans” probably are people who would watch or play those movies or games far more than most other people and likely do something like watch or play them over and over excessively all the time.

It also sounds like hypnosis can feel good when you go into a trance. Again a lot of things said people feel DEEPLY relaxed under it. So people with something like depression or anxiety? Well if it relaxes them so intensely if video games and movies can hypnotize, maybe this could explain why. It might even explain hypnotherapy. It is hypnosis used for benifits supposably. But what if people have to get help by being hypnotized by a real hypnotist because they actually were already hypnotized by something in the media?

In fact, I’ve been questioning if perhaps the media is the only source that hypnotizes you whether it’s a iPhone, TV, or computer.

I believe on something I heard the sound a car usually makes is not actually the real sound the engine makes and is actually the sound of airplanes or is fake to try and get people to buy the car. Could this be hypnoisis? I mean who knows though. I also think companies do things like make their logo red because the color red makes you hungry supposably. I also saw things about the logos of things like Burger King manipulating your emotions, “subconsciously”.

Like something said one trick to use to hypnotize is to get someone to focus on a fixed point. Like your fourhead, or their hand. A light though is a great way to do this. The media is a light.

So, what if the media is actually hypnotic?

I know aspects of the media like social media make you stressed but perhaps it depends on what you’re doing on the media. Perhaps if hypnosis can be resisted if you want to you could become stressed by someone in the media and not be in a trance. Perhaps some people are so used to being in a trance they are not used to not being relaxed. Maybe this leads to anxiety issues? Who knows if anxiety caused by social media supposably is linked to hypnosis though. Perhaps it’s just things like video games and movies or maybe the like button for facebook is hypnotic.

What if some notifications are hypnotic which is why they have a effect on people? There was something about notifications effecting people.

Some brands like McDonalds make commercials and commercials are basically like a movie that makes you want to buy something, what if some advertisments can even hypnotize you? Could this explain perhaps maybe partially why people get obese? Particularly when watching TV? Maybe it isn’t just no excercise not that it doesn’t also play a role. Maybe this is why some restaraunts advertising food try to make their food look much better than in reality. It’s like the food looking so good and delicious suggests, “This food is good” could it get into your subconscious?

I saw something which said that a person who smoked was hypnotized to think tabaco or whatever they were smoking tasted terrible and every time they smoked a cigarette they thought it tasted bad. That’s good, but what if the food could hypnotize you to think it looks delicious in a advertisment? Even when it is bad for you?

Some companies like Disney get millions of dollars on nothing. Why would something make people give it so much attention as to make them get so much money?

If a company did hypnotize people to but their product of some sort or to think something in it is great or that they must have it wouldnit give them millions of dollars? This also could look like a addiction but perhaps their subconscious has been altered.

I used to spend large amounts of my money on video games last year and I knew my backlog is massive to the point it would take me thousands of hours to complete my collection and I could imagine how much I could have save if it wasn’t towards to games I know it would take most of my free time to complete.
I broke free from that consuming lifestyle and instead purchase something that would benefit me in the future also I have been wanting to draw again after being dormant for 7 years. From now on I just buy games that are simple or moderately challenging like platformers and JRPGs to spend 2 or 3 hours a day making me have more free time to spend with my family.

It has been an eye opening to see how it changed my health and mental state knowing I am broken free from that burden.

Sadly, many games nowadays are created to get people addicted to them. No more are the good games that were created just for fun, to really give players a good time when playing them.

I realised something was wrong after I tried a MMORPG and played it for 4 months. It isn't that good, yet I got addicted to playing it everyday. I looked up on the internet on game addiction, and I learned about how game developers nowadays are abusing the Skinner Box mechanism, and that made me search for quitting online gaming, which led me to your website.

I'm glad I don't have a hard time quitting it, since I didn't spend much money on its tricky micro-transactions (no more than $40 dollars in total). You are a great help. Keep up the good work.

I don't think I'm addicted, but I sometimes neglect homework and school revision just to play games and I want to change and improve my grades.

The video talks about video game addiction, its causes; As are lonely life habits, lack of stimulation in different areas, as well as anxiety, depression, ADHD, among others, could generate a more difficult situation. Signs and treatments, etc. Say it in a respectful and honest way while sending a very important message like "remember real life is worth fighting for and never give up"."

I realized I have a problem after I looked and saw that i have played team fortress 2 for 29 hrs in the past two weeks. That's almost 2 hours per day. I just uninstalled steam and all of my games. They will NOT consume my life.

So your saying the real reason I couldn't get most of my work done was probably because of games addiction. If this generation didn't happen then I would've just learned things quicker without having to waste my time on gaming
