Current Australian reccomendation is 3 seconds not 10 anymore, they changed it a few years ago apparently it’s all in the thigh by that time! 🤷‍♀️ as a pharmacist me and my colleagues were unsure at first but the literature backs it up.

Just for notes: epipen DOES NOT cure the allergic reaction, it gives you adrenaline and last for about 15 minutes, you still need to see doctor after the first injection

What kills me is that as a lifeguard I'm not allowed to administer EpiPens because the Red Cross isn't able to certify me for it so the person can sue the pool if I do. I'm not sure I'd be able to just sit and watch if it was actually happening

My younger brother is allergic to many things so when he was like 7, someone ate nuts close to him and just from the smell he couldn’t breath and his teacher was too afraid to use an epipen on him so he had to do it himself…I can’t imagine myself in this scenario. When I was his age I cried out of fear every time my parents told me about blood test the next day.

My mom taught me how to use one when I was like 8 or 9 cause she's very allergic to wasps. She had me practice pen on myself (it had no needle) so i would know how hard to jam it if she ever went into anaphylaxis.

You should do a vid on naloxone/narcan too! I know how to administer both forms myself but not rnough do, harm reduction is very important and sadly not discussed enough

Actually had to use an Epipen on my roommate about a month ago, glad he showed me how to use it beforehand. Definitely a lifesaver!

When my sister was little, she had a deadly allergy to milk and dairy, so she had an epi-pen. My parents trained me at a young age on how to to use them. (Also my sister outgrew her allergy when she was 3-4)

Just so you know if you ever had to use an epiPen and you’re scared of needles, it doesn’t hurt as bad as a shot I’ve had to use an epiPen before it so trust me on this one
