Basement - Yoke (Nervous Energies session)

Basement had a really great record come out in 2011 called "I Wish I Could Stay Here". I was a huge fan of it so when the band announced they were breaking up after one last US tour, I wanted to get them in for a session. Very stoked they trusted me enough to film their first acoustic session.

I've had this version on repeat for the past few days, performed. I just love hearing the sadness in his voice and thinking about how much the lyrics probably mean to him, and to the band. It's also the blank expression on his face whilst playing it that got to me, all I can see is sadness. I don't know whether or not he really was, but it really adds to the atmosphere of the performance and helps me feel as though they're performing just for me. Basically, this is my sad song.
