You're a life savior!!! lol We don't play mahjong in Chile (at least I don't know anybody who does) but I've just bought a set from ebay. I was getting dizzy with all the explanations on youtube, but this video is pretty clear. Thank you very much!!

I've long wondered how mahjong actually worked, I've only ever played the mobile version where you match pairs to remove them.

I'm half Chinese and have fallen asleep to the sound of my mom and her family members play mahjong, but i never learned how to play and we moved away from my moms side of the family. So shes stopped playing. My brother and my dad havent bothered to learn to play with her and shes always trying to get my brother and dad more into her culture since we're more so involved in my dads side. Growing up like this, i am now 15 and i have a pretty okay relationship with my mom. She taught me so much and has told me everything shes had to sacrifice for us. So here I am at 3:54am studying the history of mahjong and how to play so my mom doesn't feel so alone. Thanks for this video :)

Ningbo in Zhejiang province China is one probable origin of the game. There is a Mahjong Museum there. It is essentially a Rummy game and saying I'm playing Mahjong is like saying you are playing poker because their are so so many variations but you don't and I don't play for money because "Why do I want to lose money?" and be in debt and have to pay it back by Chinese New Year. :D

My brother and i learned how to play when he was playing yakuza. We had to have more points than the cpu in 3 rounds. It was a lot more difficult to win compared to when i played without points with family.
