Creating and scheduling Maintenance Plans - SQL Server

Every database administrator is expected to perform certain routine tasks regularly. The tasks include things like index rebuild, statistics updates, database backups etc. Since a database administrator is often expected to manage multiple servers each with tens or hundreds of databases this is often a daunting task. To facilitate managing such a large infrastructure setup a number for automation tools are available at the hands of administrators. One such tool is maintenance tasks in SQL server. maintenance plans allow the database administrator do schedule these tasks in a automated fashion.
