Just needs a quick reprogramming and it'll be fine.

I think you may need a heatsink for that chip.

Tried to run a blinking led at 1.21GHz.

I'm not sure that's what the datasheet meant when it said "burn the fuses". ;)

That looks like a good efficient way to remove solder when you are salvaging parts for reuse.

And this is why you should never overclock. By the way, I loved that last little spark at the end.

I can vouch for this.  I had a similar experience when my DIP package PIC18F4550 (5V part) was fed 15V. No flames, but there was a quick pop and sizzle.  What was left was a hole at the center of the IC package where i had a clear view of the silicon.

Ah, it's just a software glitch, just, iron out the bug in the code and recompile it in E=mc^2, and it's all good.

I've heard of burn-in, but that's just nuts...

Damn-it.  Datasheet said 15 milliamps max, not 15 amps max.  Bugger. :p

This is what happens when you get Imperial volts mixed up with metric! suh a broken system...

How many electrons did you shove through it?

is this the recommended way of burning fuses to the pic?

Thanks for providing the voltage condition that was used.

Frustrated with MPLAB, XC or PickIT 3? Or just for fun?

Everybody gangsta until the fire starts melting the solder

Why are all the pins soldered together? I would like to see when it's only applied to actual power pins where there might be some protection built in. Might just go and test it myself with one of the 100 pics i have lying around

Looks like a good alternative to fireworks this 4th of July.
