Port forwarding has nothing to do with connection speed. It's to pass a specified port to the vpn and open it. Typically used for an application or web server you're trying to host on a server inside the routers firewall(LAN). PIA's port forwarding works about 20% of the time and basically not at all on Linux distros, unfortunately.

Hi Tom, PIA was recommended to me, that their security is the best in the market. My concern is they are not listed on the top 10 VPN 's and to me are not too user friendly. What is your thoughts on this, especially on the safety and privacy of PIA. Your thoughts and recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Really been debating what VPN to sign up for, the internet can make them all look bad honestly, but I am looking for one that will work with Linux, and my eyes are set on PIA.
I've been doing allot more Torrenting since I picked up an 8tb hard drive, I understand these day's it's best to remain behind a VPN....
I'm in Canada, & our laws are set (currently) that there is nothing companies can do against me for torrenting.... Accept make my ISP send a threatening letter I can just
But I would prefer to be behind a VPN I suppose....
