In High School we played this song and got 1st place, we made sweepstakes band scoring a 1st place in marching that year as well, Our band director was Darrington White. Such beautiful memories with this song and all of Ralph Vaughn Williams's pieces

This is one of my favorite pieces of music ever, and it's nice to have a stellar performance of it that I can go back and listen to!

DEAR LORD the euphonium player. Somehow he sounds even better in this one than your recording of The White Rose.

As a Euphonium player who has played this in the past, I really enjoyed listening!

This brought a smile to my face; nice to hear VW's music appreciated outside the UK. Thanks to all involved!

We had a friend, professional sax player, degrees and everything, who tried out for the Marine Corp Band. Came in second. He’s now a professor at a university, but still sorry he missed this opportunity.

I got this song to play with a symphony I’m auditioning for, and I realized halfway through the first song that it was a song I played in 10th grade, a song I’ve been trying to place the name of since then and now and could never figure it out!! I’m so excited to finally know what that song was

I played this in college band. This was such a great piece to play. I especially enjoyed the first and third movements. I played this on clarinet

I am such a huge fan of the British Band Tradition (Grainger, Holst, and Vaughn Williams). There is just something about the sound and feel of all of these pieces in comparison to some of their other works (e.g., Holst's Planets, Vaughn Williams Tuba Concerto). Grainger appears to be the exception, as both his works for band and orchestra sound very similar.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of music with us!

Whato all,
How lovely to hear an American band playing English folk music. Shame that the camera work managed to miss some of the soloists.

Thank everyone in the band for a beautiful performance of this wonderful music. I am an oboe player. The oboe solo that begins the second movement was pure terror for me when I was a freshman! Now, fifty years later, it is still scary! 😁 A community band that I play with performed this last year and I still get nervous.
