I learned a fact (can’t say “fun fact” about this one) when touring the WWII Memorial in DC a few years back…that the US in anticipation of the land invasion of Japan commissioned so many Purple Hearts to be manufactured that no Purple Heart medal has been manufactured since due to the bombs being dropped instead. Every war/conflict since…Korea, Nam, Bosnia, Grenada, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc no other Purple Heart medal was manufactured. Even now they have plenty in stock from that run…that really brings into perspective what they believed was going to happen in a land invasion of Japan, and how many casualties they expected to have. That blows my mind!

If war was to happen, and there's no way to stop it. I'd volunteer myself automatically. I don't want my father to fight. He's old and sick. I'd do anything to protect my family. Even if i have to lose a limb or two. I'd re-enlist, fight and fight till i know they're safe. As for my dogs i'll protect them aswell of course.

It has been said by some writers that the last survivors of WW3
will be astronauts on long term missions in orbit.

Though it would be the most depressing feeling in history
for them to know that everyone else is dead and
that there is a good chance that they will die too
once they return to Earth.
(and I don't know if any astronauts in orbit could
possibly return to Earth without ground support).

If there is a World War lll then humanity as we know it should be ashamed for resorting to another world war despite the losses and atrocities that occurred in the previous ones. It would go to show that we are doomed to repeat the past instead learning from it and taking corrective and preventative action to make sure that tragedy is not repeated. After all It was Einstein who said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
