From my work in cardiology, a CT calcium score is a non-invasive scan in which they are able to visualize calcium deposits in the coronary arteries. (No this calcium is not from your diet) the calcium is a residual from natural healing to that artery when damage has occurred. The calcium score has a scale 0 means great but you should still maintain a healthy lifestyle. 1-100 is low but precautions should be taken. 100-400 is intermediate and 400+ likely a stress test will be ordered and has a higher chance of being positive but it is not guaranteed to be positive as every individual has variable sizes of their arteries so more occlusion may occur with varied risk. Calcium deposits are not “plaque” there is stable and ulcerated plaque. Stable plaque is plaque that is less likely to rupture and cause a major heart attack while ulcerated is the contrary. Statins/medications can improve this stabilizing the plaque. The calcium score is a study to risk stratify the patient therefore it’s a quick (around 15 mins) test that can help with determining someone’s future risk of a heart attack. Hopefully this helps someone

I'm 54 years old and been training for 40 years. I took the advice regarding a heart scan from Greg and More Plates. My calcium score was 750. The same problem as Antoine. I'm now on medication for blood pressure and high cholesterol. Waiting for dye test to see how much my artery is blocked. Great advice from Greg. It probably saved my life. Thank you.

I honestly don't know what would be worse for him, either he has major health event during prep or he starts pulling back on prep because of fear so he continues eroding his health while diminishing his chances of accomplishing anything.

Doc: "You're gonna have a heart attack is 3-5 years."
Antoine: "I'll quit vaping."

My heart breaks for this guy. I met Antoine here in Edmonton and he was so nice to my son and I. We were laughing and talking about him turning pro (he wasn't an IFBB pro yet). Hope he recovers nicely and lives long into old age.

Sadly, Antoine was a drug addict before bodybuilding and switched from street drug abuse to anabolic abuse. He may have the genetics to bodybuild but he clearly has the addiction gene also. And cigarettes obviously clearly made it worse. It's his life, but I wish him the best. Addiction kills ALL logical perspectives.

Fun fact about arnold how long Arnold exercised
"The Muscle Builder and the Encyclopedia are exaggerated. I had a short conversation with Dr. Michael Walczak a couple of years ago He said Arnold’s workouts lasted a little over an hour and ate a normal diet (3 squares)." ~ Dan Brillantino

I saw and trained with Arnold many times He began training hard about 3 months prior to a contest, and did up to about 20 sets per muscle group.
I don’t recall him ever being in the gym for more than about 1 and 1/2 hours and During the off-season, he would train for about an hour, 4 times a week - Jerry Branium

What a shame. I’ve been following this guy for years and seen him get close to making it as a professional bodybuilder only to have one setback after another. I’m glad he’s making this decision and hope he can get back to good health. Best of luck to him!

I’ve also noticed a reluctance in the medical
Community towards pro active testing. Even with insurance covered tests in America I’ve commonly got push back from providers when requesting just about anything.
