One question I get often asked is what tools, mods, and resources I use for building in Terraria. Today, I thought I’d have a build tip video on that. If you’d like more basic tutorials, let me know in the comments!

I remember when you only had 10K subs, I haven’t been on YouTube for nearly a year and a half and the first thing I get in my recommendations is this video, I look at your sub count and see 70k... it’s so nice to see you haven’t quit YouTube and are doing very well. Keep up the good work man!

If mods are being used, I would recommend hero's mod for the built in freeze time feature and Fargo's soul mod for the world shaper soul, which does everything all the accessories here do and then some, including no mob spawns and infinite tile placement range.

I think you should try the LuiAFK mod, it has an Improved Actuation Rod that can actuate/unactuate blocks without actuators, and it can be dragged over rows of blocks.

I recommend Calamity or Thorium as far as content mods go.
It’s hard to go wrong with either, but Thorium has a style closer to vanilla whereas Calamity is more of its own thing if that matters at all

Because I know not everyone has the patience to get through the video multiple times, I'll make a list:
Pickaxe- whatever works for you. You can use a drill instead if you don't mind the noise.
1:17 Axes and hammers- hamaxe for quick clearing, slower hammer for shaping blocks in order to not break walls (pwnhammer works for this, but find best balance for you)
2:56 Drill containment unit- useful for terraforming, but glitches block shaping a little on servers
3:28 Paint- use spectre paintbrush/scraper for reach, if possible
3:41 Extra stuff- cell phone for recall and time, rod of discord for tping, ice rod for midair building
4:00 Wiring- presserator to automatically place actuators, actuation rod to actuate, grand design for wire work and ruler.
4:45 Summoning tool- anything that can travel through blocks, if possible (such as stardust dragon)
5:03 Inventory expansion- money trough, safe, defender's forge. Especially if you aren't using mods.
5:42 Tools- I recommend watching the section, but TL;DR, use toolbelt (+1 reach), toolbox (+1 reach), architect gizmo pack (combines brick layer, portable cement mixer, extend-o-grip, and paint sprayer. These items will not stack effects with the pack.) ( 6:53 for painting explanation)
7:52 Recommended accessories- architect gizmo pack, tool box, tool belt, wings, and anti-knockback shield (recommended, figure out what works best)
External Resources:
8:19 Block/wall palette. I recommend watching this bit. Some links in desc, find one that you like.
9:30 TEdit. External map editor. (Personally, I downloaded it as a map viewer when I started playing again after 1.4. It supports actual textures if you have the game downloaded on the computer you're using. It works great as a map viewer even if you don't use it for editing, like I don't.) Again, watch this bit.
9:51 Mods. Links in desc, watch section for more info.

This was mostly for the in-game tools and items, so apologies for lack of info on the external stuff.

Edit: I think the items that place stuff might be important, too. Such as the livingwood/leaf wands. Please reply with more because I'm not experience at all with terraria and building.

Alright. Other things that might be useful (feel free to add things in comments):
Regrowth staff
Livingwood/leaf wands
Infinite water/lava buckets and sponges

Thorium is 100% the most content-rich, true-to-vanilla mod out there, and will give you plenty of new things to play around with. I've worked w/ the lead dev & sprite artists and they are very hardworking & detail-oriented! There's a lot of vanity blocks and furniture, too 👀

When diving into content mods, I'd suggest thorium first, however its totally up to you and your play style
Also, I'd love to see more beginner videos like this! Learning some basic stuff could really help out my barbaric housing style

I know this isn’t commenters day but an idea for a build is creature themed houses. Not all of them of coarse just a select few that you may find interesting. Your vids are great and have a incredible day!

I rarely comment but this is the video I have been waiting for lol. I wanted to start building things but even after watching your tutorials I still am overwhelmed with how much materials materials and items you use ~ looking forward for more beginner level tutorials 💕

I very much recommend using Djinn’s Curse for much easier, higher flight.

As for mods, I don’t have much experience but Elements Awoken has the Hourglass of Eternity which allows you to toggle day/night at will, similar items for rain and sandstorms, and ultra-fast boots which also function as wings.

chad's furniture mod and/or furniture, food and fun are two of the best decorative mods out there.

also vipix toolbox has a lot of nice building tools, like a paint selector and a hammer that only shapes blocks.

Chromakey Walls adds a few fun things, invisible blocks and platforms, red/blue/green walls (which is useful for videos, i suppose, not much else) but most importantly for me, a pickaxe with +50 reach and a hammer with +50 reach and insane speed for tearing down walls. And an accessory with +50 reach as well. They can all be crafted without any pre-req items so you can just make the tools when you need them and immediately dump them. Also been using the invisible platforms to make your gibbets.
Others have mentioned luiafk, but I didn't see anyone mention that it also adds an invisible housing token, which is also nice for the gibbets.

This is extremely helpful! LuiAFK is a very helpful mod that i use for building. It also adds a super drill mount. Thank you for this video it really helps!
