After 9 years, I am visiting Pakistan again. This time, I am flying on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) B777-200/LR from Dubai to Islamabad. Find out the latest PIA in-flight service and passenger experience onboard the flight. PIA was the launch customer of the B777-200/LR. I flew on the prototype on my flight to Pakistan.

After landing at Islamabad, I met up with PIA CEO Air Marshal Arshad Malik, he spoke openly about all the PIA issues and how he is going to fix the airline. We discussed issues about the EU blacklist, the credibility of the pilots and return PIA to profitability. Chief commercial officer Ali Qasim also discussed the latest fleet strategy and consolidation of European operations.

PIA operated many rescue flights out of Kabul, Afghanistan, and flew about 5000-7000 people out. PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan shared with me some of the first-hand details of the challenging operation in Kabul.

The first time I flew was with PIA back in 1979. Since then I have flown with them a few times. The onboard hospitality was excellent just like the hospitality you would experience in Pakistan. Good luck PIA and I hope your airline is once again successful as it used to be in the 60s and 70s. Pakistan Zindabad

I will not forget this airline, it was my first flight in a plane. Year was 1987, on a Boeing 747, from subang airport kuala lumpur to heathrow, with stops in karachi, dubai, paris in between. We still need to take a 2 hours drive to our final stop in birmingham. Crazy times

What I like about Mr. Malik is that he is very well-spoken and you can tell that he speaks from his heart, with passion and honesty. Something an airline needs in this day and age.

I hope PIA can resolve their internal issues. As an airplane they have huge potential that they can tap into, plenty of airlines have managed this, staff training is crucial especially on PIA’s part as they don’t currently meet any world leading airplane hospitality.

PIA in the 80s, that was my first long haul from Europe to China, they gave me the vocation to become cabin crew. I flew them again purposely to Japan via the Southern route. So glad they choose Paris as a center, I have always had a soft spot for them. The food was great, the uniforms always classy, I wish them all the best for a better future, more in line with their indeed brilliant past. Great people to fly with!

Best wishes to PIA enjoyed wonderful service on their 707’s in the sixties from Heathrow to Teheran, they were one of the best then so they can do it again.

Great choice for the gift (donuts!). Proud of the gentleman rescuing so many people. While PIA is struggling commercially, this rescue effort should still be a proud legacy for the country and the airline.

A350 induction would be a game changer if it happens as per PIA spokesperson. Thanks Sam for the update on the PIA fleet.

PIA used to train emirates and European airline crew. PIA was one of the best airlines in the world back then. The down fall of PIA is truly heartbreaking. Hope, PIA will be back one day with a bang and regain its lost prestige.

Awesome vlog! I used to fly PIA direct from London to Karachi and honestly their pilots were very good and skilled every time. Crew members were all sweet and helpful. I remember the “Pakistani omelette” haha. Would love to fly PIA again sometime! And gifting the crew donuts was such a sweet idea! I’d like to gift them too on my next flight. 😇

As an 14 yr old Indian (who likes to keep politics out of his comments btw) it's so interesting that both pia and air india have been in similar states in atleast the last twenty years... nevertheless I wish the best of luck to both carriers:)
Edit:I started a war lol

Fun fact, PIA is the most overstaffed airline in the world. Previously, it was Air India in second place.
