I know this is an old video- but I just found it. Thanks doe the review. The heat issue is exactly the reason I swapped this for my hit air vest. The hit air has no back protector, so I keep the one in my jacket. But the lack of a back protector lets the air flow through the jacket. Still hotter than no air vest, but much much better than the HELITE.

I've had the same vest for a year now. Totally agree with everything you say. Living in the UK we don't get many hot days so that's not an issue. After a year you just automatically just clip in.
I've had only positive reactions from other bikers especially ones that have came off in the past.
The biggest negative thing is the price but all new technology costs when it first comes out.

Them making the same connector to your vest is a pretty obvious oversight, especially for a product built for safety. Nice of you to mention this, the air bag snap should fit only 1 place. sorry wrote my comment and paused at the moment you brought it up. Because its such a bad oversight. The tailbone overhang is really ugly, but from one of my own crashes where i slammed the brakes and slid i didn't even have a motorcycle jacket and fell right on my tailbone, it was not fun, never went to the doctor, had pain for 4 months, and a lump in my tailbone for over a year, so i guess its needed.

The cartridge won't hurt your ribs in case of a fall since the air bag part underneath will deploy making an air cushion between the ribs and the cartridge. There's a Helite Turtle model longer on the back ( like to protect your tail bone) on that one the cartridge is bigger. I still prefer this model of the electronic, as you don't need to send it back for calibration and resetting after discharge. One will end up paying more than the 1/2 price of the vest in a couple of years or so. I know tethering to a strap could be annoying clip on and clip out, but hey when it comes to a life saver ... who cares

Could you please suggest which one to choose and why
1. Likes of Revit Dominators GTX - big dollars
2. Jackets such as Hit-Air or Helite with integrated safety airbag
3. Mid range 200-400$ range coupled with separate airbag vests

Also a basic question, while riders these days are opting for big dollar jackets yet I don't see much interest in airbag jackets? Were airbag jackets a fad that died down already?

The snap for ejecting the airbag is much tighter than the others. So I feel safe with that.

I am owner BMW R1200GS, 2018 and I would like to said this is a excellent review, from a BMW Biker. I have 2 years old using a Helite Vest, the only claim that I have, is the land yarn could be fragile and could be broken or burn by the hot engine.

fasten the vest before getting on the bike thus eliminating the risk of attaching it to the wrong one.

I have had one for a few years a black one as high viz gets dirty and is hard to clean anyway i have had a crash with it 45/50 mph high side this thing definitely saved my arse i can't see any negatives with it
