I agree with op. all the mother wanted was control of the situation. she wanted to be the one to write the story. to place the Pieces on the chest board. and now it's all blown up in her face!

also I really think the father should have double checked his words before even speaking them. because cheating regardless of the reasoning is still cheating! no matter how you justify it it's a total betrayal worst that even stabbing your family directly in the back with a knife.

and now he has not only lost his daughter but his reputation has been completely destroyed! all because his wife wanted control of the situation.

not that he's not a blame for any of it. he should have stood up for op rather than tell her to “grow up” and basically watch her boyfriend cheat with her sister.

also I love that Sam basically went full nuclear on their asses and to destroyed their entire lives. to be honest if I was one of her mother's friends and I found out why she did I would even ask her “ do you really think it was worth losing your daughter to gain control?” and then leave her.

she has pretty much destroyed her family and to be honest I think op should just stay away from her. she can rot in the holes she dug herself. because at the end of the day that's for trash like her belongs. and I hope the father lives a long life so he can regret every single decision he's made regarding his children. because he's never gonna get his daughter back.

and the sister? well I hope that she cuts off her mother as well. because nobody deserves a parent like her.

I'm physcially mad on Ops behalf near the end of the story. Ops mom is such a narcissist she physically can't comprehend Op being happy so she literally sabotaged Ops relationship with her Bf just so Ops sister can be happy. and Ops father never knew the actual story to begin with he thought Op was just overreacting. I'm almost tempted to hope Ops dad files for divorce as his wife can keep this big of a secret for this long, what other things is she hiding, probably an affair of her own?

Sounds like OP's dad screwed up but wasn't overtly bad. The moment he realized his wife was involved he became pissed at her. I hope OP and her dad rebuild their bond in the years to come, that's the only bond that deserves a second chance. I also forsee OP's dad filing for divorce, if faith isn't in the way.
