Alberta’s chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw updated the COVID-19 situation in the province on Tuesday.
Over the previous 24-hour period, the province had identified 366 new cases of COVID-19 and 14 deaths associated to the disease.
As of Tuesday, there were 626 patients in hospital, and 108 of those in intensive care.
Hinshaw also spent some time discussion the sharing of misinformation.
“Now more than ever before it’s critical that we are all informed by verified facts and informed analysis,” Hinshaw said. She asked that everyone make sure the information they are receiving and sharing is verified.
She also spoke about concerning reports that heath officials are receiving abuse while carrying out duties during the pandemic.
“I understand that continuing to follow COVID-19 restrictions is difficult, but harassment is never OK.”
Hinshaw went on to say “we need to remember that COVID is the enemy, not one another.”
