you my aunt gave me her computer before she moved away I have a fast working HDMI cable ethernet I put one of the sides in to the monitor I don't know where to put the other end because I don't have a pc box and when I try to turn it on like with 1 end not connect or not connected at all it says no signal someone help please

I had a similar issue but my it's only the hdmi which is not working on PC but the rest do connect.
BUT One funny thing the hdmi works on satellite decoders, DStv decoder, but when connected to PC it doesn't why cus I don't know why cus I can't understand how it just behaving.
Is there any solution out for me?
