‘Cancel culture on steroids’: Calls to ban fossil fuel advertising

Sky News host Chris Kenny says there is a push to “cancel” mining companies and ban them from advertising following the launch of commodity company Glencore’s national advertising campaign.

“This is cancel culture at play, and in this case, I reckon it is cancel culture on steroids,” he said.

Mr Kenny’s comments follow a push from climate advocacy group Comms Declare to ban marketing from companies who contribute to the growth of fossil fuel emissions, in a move similar to the prohibition of tobacco advertising in Australia, according to a report from the Sydney Morning Herald.

Stop the fossil subsidies and make them pay their fair share of tax. Make them pay to remove the carbon dioxide they are responsible for.
