How Hans (and Reddit) is Wrong about OTB accusations

Possibly because of misleading Reddit and Twitter trolls, Hans has been led to believe that Hikaru "directly accused" Hans of cheating in over-the-board chess. This is incorrect. On multiple occassions he expressed doubt that Hans cheated over-the-board, and contradicted people in his chat who were making those accusations. Here are just a couple of those times.

This video's description should be actually on screen to make it explicit that Hans probably think Hikaru accused him so hard because the social media led him to. Hans is in the middle of a tournament and stressful situation, he, at most, saw a digested clip of Hikaru's reaction of that one analysis.

I have seen Hikaru's longer analysis videos that strongly implies something fishy about Hans' lines and his comments on the show afterwards. He mocked Hans and gave an impression that he thinks about him cheated mostly.

Speaking somebody who is a casual fan of chess, and doesn't really have a dog in this fight -- the problem is that, logically, you can't prove a negative. Whether or not Niemann did cheat OTB, he can never prove that he DIDN'T cheat OTB in a past game. That's why "innocent until proven guilty" is such an important part of jurisprudence.

Carlsen obviously has strong suspicions, or he wouldn't have provoked the backlash on himself by abandoning the tournament. But suspicion is not proof - and what Niemann needs to do is stop bristling, get his head back in the game, and play chess. Because the only way he really has to demonstrate that his victory over Carlsen wasn't cheating is by kicking everybody else's butt OTB as well with the enhanced anti-cheating measures in place.

Good job, now make a compilation of clips where you made fun of his post-game analysis after Firouzja game, where you kept calling it "sus" and "fishy", stated that it was on a level of a 2500 and not a 2700 elo player, and explained thoroughly how you thought it didn't hold up at specific points. Also laughed at him supposedly being unable to justify his moves accurately.

Claim those weren't direct accusations, but just be fair about this situation and be man enough to show the whole picture of what you were saying then. If he wasn't formally right about it being "direct accusations", it is still very understandable why he was passionate about calling you out for hurting his image - but only for people who have seen those clips. To make the compilations you now make and erase those other clips from the face of the Internet is just extremely unfair and cowardly.

Those clips were up, now that people started taking Hans' side you seem to have taken them down. Hans asked whether others will also be willing to show their whole truth, and you just hid yours.

Hikaru said he cheated Online but never explicitly accused him of OTB, this is true. But during the whole incident he was mocking Hans' interviews, analysis, openings, accent and made many insinuations of "being sus". That is the exact same thing as Hikaru saying "I think Hans is cheating OTB", there is no other POV or twisting words. It is literally what he did and said.

Hikaru directly accused Hans of online cheating, which was later substantiated. Hans simply called out Hikaru, and in response Hikaru appears to be accusing Hans of "going on the offensive"

What is the purpose of the quote at the end? Do you mean to imply that since hans angrily talked about his cheating accusations, he probably cheated over the board? This is the most braindead take i've ever seen. The video doesn't directly say this, but its a very clear insinuation that you are hiding behind instead of directly accusing, so its pretty much the same thing.

Last year there was a cheater from my country called Dewa Kipas. His behavior after being accused was hugely identical to Hans. He claimed that he was superior to GothamChess, he studied the opening xyz moves deep, and halfway through the game he knew he was 100% winning. The difference is, Dewa Kipas was 1800 ELO at best, and without assistance he was quickly seen a fool; but Hans is a GM regardless, and continues to be strong throughout the competition.

If Hans did cheat, maybe he did it just to defeat World Champion. Shame that Carlsen walked away instead of calling for immediate investigation, and all evidence is long gone by now.

0:46 what I have ever seen from my experience is-
a person who accuse falsely, try to make his victim shut their mouth off by saying these. So his victim don't stand against it & accept the false accusation.
