I walk you though finding the bpm or tempo of any song or beat in Ableton Live Lite. This Ableton Live music production tutorial is a great video for you if you're new to music production or Ableton Live or if you're looking to increase your skills.

This is a short video, but it's a simple tip that will benefit your future productions. If you've struggled to find the bpm or find the tempo of a song, you know finding the bpm can be a major obstacle to creativity and making great music to have your workflow interrupted. This method is faster and easier than Pro Tools identify beat function - and it works on Ableton Live and other DAWS.

With the simple steps in this video, you'll walk away with a skill that you'll likely use in the majority of your future production sessions. I hope this helps you find the bpm in Ableton!

Although I typically use Ableton Live 10 Suite - this video was recorded with Ableton Live 10 Lite - as I feel it is easier to obtain for most beginners and budget home studio music producers.

How to find the BPM of a song is one of the most common questions I get asked by students when they try to import a beat into their session. Knowing how to sync a track to the grid is an incredibly useful skill and one that every producer should know how to do. I hope this video helps you learn this vital skill! Thanks for watching - let me know below what you'd like to see next!! 👊😎

I cant believe that Ableton Live doesn't have an easier, automated way to show you the tempo of a sample. Thanks for the workaround though.

bizarre that we still essentially have to do everything manually. by now ableton should be able to detect the tempo automatically. came here expecting instructions on where to find the "detect tempo" button. :-/

Is there a video you made of how to make all the BPM's consistent from measure to measure to measure etc.(when some go off grid)? As you know some go of tempo at certain parts of songs. I need to stretch certain measures & condense others.... thanks

Is this possible in Ableton? 1. drag in an audio track 2. have ableton place markers where the beats are 3. have the mouse snap to the markers so you can grab 2 bars or whatever and have it loop 4. move the loop around till you find the best loop

Good point. Easy to forget. 1:25 What if it’s an a capella?

You think in the modern age of AI it would be an automatic feature in Abelton live. I’m using it to play live guitar and a drum pedal that has base on demand to what ever I play and wanting abelton to match different tempos for automated accents. Such as delays certain midi functions while sending the audio signal to abelton.Thank you for this, helps a lot.
