All O-Rings do is prevent the keys from bottoming out. It'll most likely make your keyboard quieter since most people bottom out the keys anyways but it won't muffle the sound of the switch itself (like Blues)

I used turtle-strength ortho rubber bands from when I had braces, not only do they work just as well, they're also completely free and I have like 5 bags of them each with around 300 bands or so LOL!

I've never seen anyone who puts their o-rings in such a weird way o.O You put the mon the stem of the keycap, not onto the switch so it can "transfer". That's much more effort than puting them on the keycaps right away! :o

Also, you could describe the effect of o-rings as removing the bottoming-out sound because that's exactly what it does. It leaves you with the sound of the switch and the sound of the switch coming back to it's original state. It does make your keyboard quiter by removing 1/2 or 1/3 of the sounds it makes ;)

1) you can easily get a 120pack for 1$ (not "original" stuff, but still usefull)
2) shouldnt you be installing them on the keycap first, instead of the switch?

I'm curious about something, if you make your keyboard quieter, does it change something in the way you play games, i.e. the pressing speed or if the keys are pressed a little harder than at the beginning ?

Quiet is relative. If you wouldn't want me to start typing 140 wpm at 3:00 AM while a colicky two year old is sleeping (and so were you, until the keyboard noise woke him up and started his screams), then don't claim it's "quiet".
