how did the chair break? The Shear pin did it's job on the impeller but destroyed the chain?

My JD blower doesn’t have a chain, but my sweeper does and it came off on the first day. Difficult to get at also. Went to Industrial supply and got a good chain and links and then installed the master link so it would be pushed on and not off if it hit anything. Also had to align everything. Bottom line, stuff may not be put together right from the start…. 😮

I have been recording the whole process but have just found out the spring pin that holds the worm gear to the shaft fell part way out and caused it to bind on the larger gear. Surprising no damage at all other than the chain.

The impact is what pulled the sprockets together.
