Folegandros - Ano Meria

Ano Meria, the second largest settlement in Folegandros, stretches along the island’s northwestern edge for about three kilometers. This authentic island village retains a predominantly agricultural way of life. The houses, known as themonies, are more than just homes—they function as self-sufficient agricultural and livestock units, a legacy of the closed farming economy that shaped the village until recent years.

In this windswept and arid landscape, where weather conditions can be harsh, many households still rely on their own agricultural and livestock production. The village’s distinctive architecture, the deep-rooted traditions upheld by its inhabitants, and the simplicity of daily life make Ano Meria one of the most authentic and unspoiled villages in the Cyclades.
