I confronted a woman who stole my train seat — she still argued with me | New York Post

Yet another travel outburst has rattled TikTok after one user posted an altercation between himself and a fellow train passenger.

Captioned “sorry i pay for my place,” the viral clip shows the TikToker, who goes by @mr_boris_becker online, demanding his assigned seat back from a woman occupying it.

The video, which captured the attention of 7.4 million viewers, drummed up the age-old debate over seat swapping.

“My place is 103,” the TikToker began, recording the situation from his point of view.

There is no "controversy", she stole his seat, plain and simple. She is the one at fault.

I always book front seat because i have motion sickness. This lady just took my seat to sit with her fifteen year old to support him through his own motion sickness. She requested me to change seats and i told her no very calmly, flat out. I was already exhausted from prior travelling. I do not HAVE to listen to her problems or JUSTIFY myself to her for the seat I paid for. Call me heartless but her poor planning is none of my business.

She blinked a few times, looking around as if she heard me right. She requested five times more, each time hearing flat out no. And finally got removed by conductor's request.

If she offers him a specific seat which she booked, and she could show her seat number written, it should be fine, but proposing to sit on a random seat is not ok, because next station a passanger might have that random seat, then I will end up going back to my seat, why to put myself in such a situation when I already have a seat booked!!! period!! and to be honest I find the girl little rude, she was ridiculing him and belittling his intellect for claiming his seat!!!

I had the same problem travelling from London to Brighton, it was a father and daughter I never kicked up a stink I spoke to the ticket man on the train and said they are in our seats but he's got a young daughter and I don't want them to move because they would be standing up for an hour or 2! So the ticket man said give me a minute after 10minutes he said follow me so we did and he put us in 1st class with free food and drink.

This has been the problem for ages. Why don't buses or trains or planes print a warning on their ticket? No seat swapping or you will be ejected, or fine them 3 times the cost of the ticket.

I've taken seats before that were empty, hoping the assigned person wouldn't show up. But if they do and they want their seat, that's the end of it. I get up and find another space because I'm not entitled.

I often travel by train and this has happened many timesq, but I always stand my ground and insist the person move or I'll get them thrown off at the next stop. I book specific seats in advance for a reason so end of afaic 🤷😠🇬🇧

Not controversial at all, if some shows you their ticket number and seat reservation, move it. If it's an train company accident or all seats are free (no reservation) it's first come first serve.
