Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review: Moonshot

[SAMSUNG GALAXY S21 ULTRA REVIEW]

Fifteen years ago, when a then-nascent Samsung wanted to upset the status quo, it launched a family of phones bearing the brand name Ultra. Those being the days when form factors were in flux (and phones were more fun) maybe it’s no surprise that Samsung’s 2020 resurrection of the designation fell a little flat. To me, last year’s Galaxy S20 Ultra was too big, too boring, and too blurry … with a camera system whose focus issues wouldn’t be corrected until the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra hit the scene last summer.

Well, I’ve never been happier to say that we’ve entered a new year – and like clockwork, Samsung is here with a new phone to help kick it off. While the Galaxy S21 Ultra might feature a familiar face, it packs new features that will send some over the moon – and sacrifices that will leave others foaming at the mouth. Join me to see some of the most impressive mobile photography this side of Huawei … and some of the most polarizing feature plucking seen on a Samsung since 2015 – in MrMobile’s Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra Review!

Tested on Verizon 4G and 5G in Brooklyn and New York City, NY. I like that you didn't spend the entire time talking about the cameras. So many reviews are all about the camera and not of much else. Thanks for the review

I'm glad Fisher called Samsung out for being massive hypocrites. I've noticed almost no reviewer on youtube has called them out in the past

micro SD is incredibly important, if the phone is damaged, your data on the card will survive.
Cloud backups are nice, but when you are abroad, data is not always available.

It costs a consumer very little to have an SD card slot and not use it, where it costs a significant amount to need one and not have it available.

Having a phone with a large storage capacity put you at risk of loosing a large amount of data should anything happen, the fact is if you film in 8k or 4k, the time to upload to the cloud is so long that you may loose the data from an accident that occurs during filming.

The biggest problem with everyone's obsession with cloud based storage is not everyone lives in a city, not everyone has perfect connection that will allow them to bring up their files instantly.

Google photos won't offer unlimited backup after June this year. A microsd card will be a must for many people after that.

it's sad they have removed MicroSD card support, one of the reasons I like Samsung Phones, Looks like I will be holding onto my note10+ for much longer

No SD is just a slap in the face. Just so annoyed how they removed it!!! not to mention the reason: buy the more expensive version..
and I always had that SD car full of music and backups that are then easily placed on the new phone. Damn handy, and it doesn't need to be quick memory either.
Not to mention that my 128GB is often full. So you feel like you MUST buy the 256 or 512GB version. Because you don't want to buy something that keeps getting full, even more so now with files taking in more space.

The headphone Jack and Microsd Card were kind of a leverage over Apple

I'm staying with the Note 9 for now, hope that the Note 21 would have microSD.

"Two Davids & A Jaime" sounds like a CBS sitcom.

Always delightfully impressed Michael with the professionalism of your reviews. I can see each detail is covered and I appreciate it, from the alliteration, clever metaphors and references to past products, movies/shows and even your own reviews, to how the script lines up cleanly with the cinematography. Really enjoyed this one :)

No microSD card slot is still a complete deal-breaker for me. It's a shame, I probably would have gotten this phone otherwise.
