At least 68 dead after suspension bridge collapses in India

At least 68 people are dead after a suspension bridge collapsed in India's northwest.

Authorities believe up to 150 people were on the footbridge at the time of the incident at Machhu River.

Footage shows dozens of people clinging to cables as emergency crews race to those stranded.

Officials have stated the victims are mostly local people from the neighboring town of Morbi.

India is like China in that there is lots of money, but none of it is spent on infrastructure or the people and poverty is still rife.

Instead of sending their governments money that too often do not "trickle down" to the people...

Why don't wealthier countries, billionaire activists, and charities partner up with legitimate groups, not government entities, within the impoverished countries, fund and jointly work on installing and/or repairing critical infrastructure for the sake of the people?

If we really care about the people, not corporations or politics, what is stopping us?
