looks good to me, drinking gritty water is not my idea of fun. even if it is boiled first
so fire starter, carbohydrate source, insulation material and water filter...this list for cat tails/bullrush is getting bigger

This plant has SO many uses from fire starter and filtration to insulation against cold weather and food.
I myself actually enjoy boiling and eating the early spring male pollen spikes dipped in melted butter and salt.
God provides.

Years ago I saw some scientists experimenting with using wood as a filter in disadvantaged areas of the world.

They cut and peeled a one inch by two inch section of white pine branch and clamped it in a hose. I have always wondered if there was a bushcraft equivalent.
